New nose, new colours. Designers present the new Enyaq
The distinctive front end in the style of the new Modern Solid design language has transformed the face of the models of Enyaq family. However, there are more changes to the modernized cars, and they bring not only aesthetic but also functional benefits. Škoda Auto designers describe what these changes are like and what motivated them.
When redesigning the look of the Enyaq family of cars, the designers had more ambitions than just to perform a simple upgrade. The result is the elimination of joints or a completely new bonnet.
"It's one of the cornerstones of our new Modern Solid design language. The nose of the car is supposed to give a stronger and more powerful impression, so it is more upright, and this also required a brand-new bonnet," explains Jounggeen Kim from ŠKODA's exterior design team.

The bonnet is then seamlessly connected to other brand-new elements that are fundamentally different from the previous version. Literally no stone was left unturned, as the previous crystalline design was fully replaced by a new design language with an emphasis on minimalism.
Box - Fashion tip: Green and cognac match perfectly!
"The new Olibo Green colour beautifully complements the cognac-coloured interior, which was already introduced with the Enyaq and has been very successful," says Peregrina Iglesias, from from Colour & Trim department.
"Modern Solid sticks to three basic recipes. It is intended to express robustness, functionality and bring authentic design. A number of details depend on this," explains the designer. The glossy Tech-Deck Face grille thus conveys a sense of cleanliness and simplicity, while at the same time demonstrating a functional design concept - as it elegantly conceals the radar and other sensors that technicians need to build into the car.
Similarly, the designers, together with the engineers, took care to minimize joints on the front of the car. The result is not only a cleaner and sleeker look, but also improved aerodynamics. The Enyaq's drag coefficient is 0.245 (an improvement of 0.019), while the Enyaq Coupé even shows a value of 0.225. "The Enyaq Coupé is Škoda's most aerodynamic car and one of the best cars in its segment in this discipline," says Kim.
The headlights, with four-eyed graphics for daytime running lights and other features, now fit so tightly to Tech-Deck Face mask as if the headlights and mask were a single piece. Overall impression is enhanced by Matrix LED headlights in TOP equipped models. "These versions have a new illuminated pattern seamlessly transitioned into the LED daytime running lights, creating a smooth and modern look. The graphics of the pattern refers to the vertical slats of the radiator grille, which Škoda models with internal combustion engines have had so far," says Martin Paclt from exterior design team, describing the new feature.

The main light chamber is now set lower, and inside the headlight, the designers used black modules bezels instead of the previously popular chrome. This again supports the elegance of the front. The rear lights have also undergone a minor change. "We have kept the shape, but now the light signature in the upper horizontal stripe is divided into a total of four segments, which optically connects the rear with the graphics of the front," explains Paclt.
The character of the car has also been transformed by careful paint work. Standard versions now have the lower part of the bumper painted in Unique Dark Chrome (UDC) look, while the upper trim levels and the Coupé are painted in the body colour. This brings a sportier look, while the standard version is very sleek.
Peregrina Iglesias, from the Colour & Trim department, thinks that the cognac color goes well with the new color Olibo Green.
It stands out especially in combination with the new metallic Olibo Green colour. "We wanted to differentiate the individual versions more and give even the basic versions more elegance and added value," explains Peregrina Iglesias, from the Colour & Trim department.
There are changes in the interior too. There is a new steering wheel with Škoda lettering instead of the former round logo, various details have been slightly changed at individual Design Selections and more recycled and recyclable materials have been added. For example, the Lounge version has been upholstered in Jumbo grey from Suedia with mint green stitching and piping. "The jumbo grey colour together with the mint green details create a fresh and modern interior," says Iglesias.
The Lodge interior features "TechnoFil" fabric upholstery, partly made from recycled ECONYL® polyamide fibres, and orange contrasting elements, including orange seat belts.
The Enyaq and Enyaq Coupé thus truly give a reborn impression and honour Škoda's new design language inside and out.
