The waiting was over. The new Škoda Elroq drove out of a light cube and finally displayed itself in all its glory. Come and take a look behind the scenes of the stylish premiere.
The Škoda Elroq compact electric SUV was revealed to the world in the historic centre of Prague, within sight of the Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. And since a former swimming pool and river baths were at the heart of the action, it’s clear that the river Vltava played an important role in the show.

An anchored pontoon with a 6.5 metre light cube was installed on the river. The LED Cube was eye-catching, but it was a surprise to many of the guests at the premiere that it would be so central to the action.
At last the evening reached the moment when the unveiling of the Elroq was imminent, and all eyes turned to the illuminated Cube. One of its walls opened and the star of the event – the new Škoda Elroq – slowly emerged from inside.
Škoda CEO Klaus Zellmer presents the Elroq.
Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Škoda, was behind the wheel. “It was a thrill and an honour to make that first drive from the Cube out into the eyes of the world. It’s even more of a joy to know that this drive on stage starts the journey into the hands of our customers,” says Zellmer. According to him, exiting the Cube was not that different from leaving the garage. “Just a few more people, lights and cameras than usual,” Zellmer said with a laugh.
While coming out of the Cube was relatively easy for the Elroq and its driver, getting the car inside it before the event was a bit more challenging. The Cube stood on the floating pontoon, and the only way there for the car, whose appearance had to be concealed by a cover sheet until the moment of its unveiling, was over the water. Consequently, about ten hours earlier a boat had drawn up alongside at the pontoon in the morning rain with an unusual cargo on board – a lorry with a boom. The Elroq, hidden under a sheet, was on the back of the lorry. Incidentally, this particular Elroq was a First Edition model in Timiano green.
“We showed that we can even handle transporting cars on water. As with the world premiere of the Kodiaq, the logistics were a big challenge, but we managed to overcome all the obstacles,” says Petr Kavrentzis, who was responsible for preparing both cars for their premieres, reminding us that the Kodiaq headed into the Berlin underground for its unveiling.
The Elroq First Edition was not the only car on the river at the event in Prague. There were two more Elroqs, one of them in the attractive Sportline trim, on other boats. This gave all the guests – mainly journalists, influencers and content creators – the chance to thoroughly explore the new car after the unveiling and immediately start creating content for their channels.
