The quality of the current crop of ŠKODA models is best evidenced by sales figures. A record 1,200,500 ŠKODAs rolled off production lines in 2017, proving conclusively that their popularity continues to rise around the world. This is also reflected in record sales of EUR 16.6 billion (a 20.8% increase on 2016), a figure that pushed up the long-established Czech carmaker’s operating profit to EUR 1.6 billion.
This all goes to show that ŠKODA AUTO is building on the growth reported in the outstanding years beforehand. According to the presentation of ŠKODA AUTO’s economic performance at its Annual Press Conference, Strategy 2025 and the associated model and technology offensive are also paving the way for growth to continue in the years ahead.
“At this point, I thank all of our customers worldwide for their trust in our products and loyalty to our brand. We have tremendous motivation to continue this course,” said ŠKODA AUTO Board Chairman Bernhard Maier. “By the end of 2020, we will launch a total of 19 new models, but at the same time we are also implementing the largest investment programme in the history of the business. In the next five years, ŠKODA AUTO will invest around two billion euros in electromobility and new mobility-related services. We are committed to implementing our 2025 Strategy,” said Maier as he outlined plans for the near future.
