The new Škoda Elroq electric car is a truly versatile vehicle that impresses with a range of features. Here are five of them that will win you over immediately.
The ingenuity of Škoda Auto developers allows the carmaker to offer cars that bring something extra compared to conventional models. Practical proof of this is the new Škoda Elroq electric car. It is based on the technology of the larger Enyaq model making it an unusually advanced car for the compact electric SUV class, offering several features typical of higher-class cars. As a result, the Elroq has plenty to impress.
1) New design
The Elroq is a very elegant and pioneering model at the same time. This is due to the use of the new Modern Solid design language, which Elroq was given as the first ever Škoda production model. The design is characterized by an emphasis on elegance, simplicity and modernity, which nevertheless maintains the traditional spirit of the brand. A new element of the language is the unique Tech-Deck Face, which is a modern interpretation of the traditional radiator grilles of Škoda cars. Also new are the logos in the form of Škoda lettering, which are finished in the Unique Dark Chrome (UDC) finish. This solution, which replaces traditional chrome, can also be found in other details.
The new Elroq is sustainable not only in terms of propulsion, but also in terms of the use of materials. The interior thus uses several elements that are made from recycled materials and can also be easily recycled. These elements are very elegant and help to create a pleasant atmosphere on board. Elegant lines are combined with interesting details here. The upholstery in the Design Selection Loft, for example, uses anthracite grey upholstery with seat covers made of faux leather and dark blue grey Recytitan fabric. This is made from recycled PET bottles and recycled clothing. The Lodge version features a fabric upholstery in a combination of grey faux leather and dark TechnoFil recycled fibre material. This is complemented by orange elements, among which the seat belts stand out.
In keeping with the Škoda tradition, the Elroq is an extremely practical car. The interior is basically as spacious as its larger sibling, the Enyaq, with a boot that can hold 470 litres of cargo, and 48 litres of additional storage space offered in the cabin. At the same time, the Elroq is equipped with several Simply Clever features, such as a net for storing the charging cable on the underside of the adjustable luggage compartment cover. Inside, there's a handy removable under-seat storage compartment at the rear. The Elroq can also get equipment that is not at all common in the segment: for example, a head-up display with augmented reality, mobile parking or a learned parking manoeuvre function.
Driving the Škoda Elroq electric car is pleasantly quiet and comfortable. The compact SUV is agile and superbly manoeuvrable, while also handling excellently. The Elroq has a tight turning circle, and its primarily rear-wheel drive (and optional all-wheel drive) concept makes the car fun to drive. The optional DCC adaptive chassis then adds to the driving pleasure while allowing the crew to be even more pampered. Thanks to the electric drive, the Elroq is nimble and responds swiftly to all driver inputs. This also makes for a safe drive, with a host of assistance systems to also ensure the safety of the crew.
5) It has sophisticated aerodynamics
The Elroq offers a range of up to 560 kilometres on a single charge (with an 82 kWh battery), but even with a 55 kWh battery it can travel up to 370 kilometres between charges. These are excellent figures, which the Elroq owes, among other things, to its sophisticated aerodynamics. An aerodynamic drag coefficient of 0.26 ensures that the Elroq uses the least possible amount of energy to cut through the air. The excellent aerodynamics also has another advantage, however, as they contribute to the quiet and comfort on board the car, as the crew is not unnecessarily bothered by the noise of the passing air.
