Thomas Schäfer, ŠKODA AUTO CEO, says: “The special concert featuring the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra is a real highlight of our anniversary celebrations to mark 30 years of ŠKODA AUTO being part of the Volkswagen Group. At the same time, in collaboration with our social partner KOVO, we are dedicating this evening to those who have worked tirelessly in the Czech social services and institutions to help fight the virus and who have lost their lives in this courageous mission. We are also supporting the bereaved families and loved ones of these outstanding people with a donation of one million Czech crowns.”
The concert at Prague’s Rudolfinum will be held on Monday 10 May. It has been organised to support the families of employees working for Czech aid organisations who cared for fellow elderly, disabled or chronically ill citizens in the past year and who themselves died of COVID-19. In cooperation with the community of aid organisations, the Via Foundation as well as the Czech Medical Chamber and the Doctors’ Union, people can transparently send their donation to an account during the concert by text message or by ringing a specially designated call centre. ŠKODA AUTO is supporting the campaign with a donation of one million crowns.
The gala concert will be broadcast live on 10 May from 20:00 on the ŠKODA Storyboard and on the car manufacturer’s official YouTube channel. The concert will also be aired on the Czech television channel ČT Art. Under the musical direction of the renowned conductor Semyon Bychkov, the programme includes works by Antonín Dvořák, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Georges Bizet.
The partnership between ŠKODA AUTO and the Czech Philharmonic, one of the world’s most successful orchestras, has continued since 1993 and is now an integral part of the car manufacturer’s cultural sponsorship.
