“For Škoda Auto, as a Czech company, hosting the recent IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in our homeland was a very special experience. Yesterday’s thrilling final in Prague and clinching the world championship title for the Czech Republic, witnessed by 17,413 fans, was a perfect conclusion to this unforgettable top-level sports event. My heartfelt congratulations to the Czech national team on this fantastic achievement! At the same time, I would like to thank the many passionate fans, both those who set new attendance records in the stadiums and those tuning in from around the globe. Once again, we showcased Škoda effectively as a long-standing partner of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship – at the arenas, on television screens, in the fan zones at each venue, and through the mobile devices of fans worldwide. I am very pleased that we will be continuing our strong partnership for years to come.”

Crystal and gold: Highlights from the 2024 IIHF Championship
After a 2:0 victory over Switzerland, the Czech Republic secured gold at the 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. After the final, the Swiss forward Kevin Fiala received the MVP trophy from Škoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing, Martin Jahn. Created by Škoda Design, the pattern on the 5 kg trophy made from traditional Czech crystal is inspired by skating tracks on the ice. Bohemian crystal is recognised as one of the finest in the world, with the tradition of glassmaking in the Czech Republic dating back to the 13th century.
Škoda Auto the official main sponsor for the 31st time
A record-breaking number of Czech and international visitors flocked to Prague and Ostrava to experience the tournament live. 797,727 fans attended the games in the arenas. For the tournament, the Czech car manufacturer provided the organisers with 45 vehicles featuring special championship designs. The fleet included the all-electric Enyaq Coupé RS, the new-generation Kodiaq, and the new Superb Combi. Additional vehicles were also displayed prominently around both arenas in Prague and Ostrava, including next to the ice. Moreover, the unique Enyaq Coupé Respectline was on show during the event as a symbol of diversity, equity, fairness and inclusion. Fans enjoyed a variety of live and digital activities sponsored by Škoda, including the official IIHF app, which provided the latest results and background information. Having been the official main sponsor of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship since 1993, the partnership between the Czech carmaker and IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship organisers was extended in 2023 for five future tournaments, continuing next year in Sweden and Denmark.
