“The ‘Auto, Motor und Sport’ readers’ choice is a very special award for us. These are the very people for whom we developed and built the car. The third success in a row makes it clear that we’ve got a lot right with the Octavia. This award is also an acknowledgement of the whole ŠKODA team’s tremendous commitment. They have worked hard to make the Octavia a very special car,” said ŠKODA CEO Bernhard Maier.
In 2015, ŠKODA delivered more than 430,000 Octavia models to customers around the world. This corresponds to a sales increase of 11.1% over the previous year. Almost 58,000 of these Octavias were newly registered in Germany in 2015, making this model series the sixth most popular overall, and the number-one imported model in the German Federal Motor Transport Authority’s (KBA) registration statistics. Not only is the Octavia a winner among the AMS readership; the true success of the model is evidenced in Germany’s new car registration figures.
Following the market launch of the ŠKODA Octavia RS 4×4 in November last year, 13 versions of ŠKODA’s top model are now available on the market: from the economical ŠKODA Octavia GreenLine and ŠKODA Octavia 4×4 to the Octavia RS 230 – the fastest ŠKODA Octavia of all time.
This year marked the 40th time renowned magazine ‘Auto, Motor und Sport’ had run their readers’ survey of the best cars. A total of 364 models were entered in eleven categories. With 18.1% of all votes in the compact-car category, the ŠKODA Octavia was voted number one among imported cars.
