“As a partner of the Czech Republic’s contribution to EXPO 2020 in Dubai, we will be able to present our company to a global audience on an international stage. The motto ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’ and the focus on sustainability and mobility are in perfect alignment with our corporate strategy NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030. This is why we are presenting our ŠKODA iV for the first time in this region as part of the World EXPO, underlining our clear commitment to an electric future for individual mobility.”
Martin Jahn, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Sales and Marketing
“The Czech pavilion at the EXPO in Dubai is in the Sustainability Zone, and it also highlights the principles of energy sustainability – an electric vehicle that generates zero CO2 emissions both in production and in operation with green energy is a perfect choice for the national exhibition ‘Country for the Future’. And for me personally, it is also important that the ŠKODA iV is not only smart but also a great-looking vehicle – after all, showcasing innovative technologies and visionary design was the reason the World EXPOs began.”
Jiří František Potužník, Czech Commissioner-General of the World EXPO
ŠKODA is providing the Czech Commissioner General of the World EXPO with a ŠKODA iV for the duration of EXPO 2020*. The all-electric SUV is the first model from the Czech car manufacturer to be delivered to customers with a CO2-neutral balance sheet. This makes it ideally suited to the focus of the world exhibition; under the banner ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’, the exhibition spotlights the issues of sustainability and mobility. Sustainability will be the focus of the Czech Republic’s pavilion, where visitors can find out how water vapour can be extracted from the air in the desert using solar energy and innovative technologies, and how fertile land can ultimately be created.
As part of its ‘NEXT LEVEL – ŠKODA STRATEGY 2030’, ŠKODA AUTO is intensifying its sustainability initiatives and tightening its environmental targets. The company aims to reduce its fleet emissions by more than 50% compared to 2020 and will manufacture vehicles with net-zero CO2 emissions at all its Czech and Indian plants from 2030 onwards. ŠKODA AUTO plans to achieve a share of all-electric models in Europe of 50-70 per cent, depending on market developments. By 2030, the product portfolio will include at least three more BEVs. In addition, the strategy lays out ambitious goals in the areas of internationalisation and digitalisation.
* Due to the pandemic, the international exhibition is taking place one year later than originally planned.
