Each year, the Škoda Classic Tour takes the participants through fascinating locations. This occasion was no exception; the organisers devised an engaging route including the traditional visit through the production plant, where the crews had a photo opportunity with Škoda Elroq prototypes. The route also led them for the first time to the Škoda Parts Centre, the automaker’s vast storage facility for spare parts. The tour then took the participants to the normally off-limits Škoda testing polygon in Úhelnice. The 126 km journey was split into two stages, with a twenty-minute refreshment break in the picturesque gardens of Dětenice Castle. The crews crossed the traditional finish line at the Metoděj Vlach Flight Museum in Mladá Boleslav. The event was open to cars of all brands manufactured before 1994.
A gathering of vintage car and technology enthusiasts of all ages, the Škoda Classic Tour combines a relaxed family atmosphere with all the elements of regularity rallies. Participants navigated the route using a detailed dot-arrow roadbook and tackled three precision tests designed to evaluate the coordination between driver and co-driver. These segments require the crews to complete them as close as possible to a predetermined time, with penalty points deducted for any deviations—specifically, one point for every 0.01-second difference. The winner of the Škoda Classic Tour is the crew with the fewest penalty points at the end of the day.
The names of this year’s precision tests commemorated several significant Škoda anniversaries in 2024, namely 50 years since the debut of the Škoda 200 RS at the Barum Rally, 60 years since the launch of the Škoda 1000 MB model, and 25 years since the premiere of the Škoda Fabia.
The winner of the 11th Škoda Classic Tour was Eduard Suchý driving an Alfa Romeo Spider from 1981, who finished the event with just 326 penalty points. The prestigious traditional trophy in the Concours d’élégance, awarded by a jury that included Škoda Museum restoration experts, was claimed this year by the crew of Martin Kosík with their Škoda 1000 MBX from 1968.
