As part of the ‘Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2019’ competition, companies, designers and agencies from 54 countries submitted nearly 8,700 pieces of work in the field of brand and communication design. In order to convince the jury consisting of 25 international experts, companies had to present their vision, brand values and unique identity as well as set themselves apart from the competition. Brand communication also plays a key role in this regard. In addition to showcasing the brand on the international website ‘ŠKODA Storyboard’, ŠKODA also received the prestigious ‘Red Dot’ award in the ‘Brands’ category for the brand campaign ‘For whatever drives you’ launched this year as well as the three-volume ‘ŠKODA AUTO Chronicle’ also published this year.
Jens Katemann, Head of Communications at ŠKODA AUTO, emphasises: “We think of communication holistically. On the online platform ŠKODA Storyboard, which is jointly operated by the Communication and Marketing departments, we offer a wide range of target groups stories and information about the world of ŠKODA using a wide range of multimedia formats and channels. The variety of topics and creative storytelling are what make it successful. One example: The ŠKODA Storyboard digital press kit for the world premiere of the new ŠKODA OCTAVIA has been accessed by over 54,000 journalists, bloggers and fans of the brand. At the same time, the jury’s appreciation of our new chronicle shows that high-quality and interestingly designed print formats continue to play an important role in conveying tradition in a contemporary way.”
Marc-Andreas Brinkmann, Head of Marketing at ŠKODA AUTO adds: “A holistic marketing concept and innovative content are becoming increasingly important in achieving a consistent, attractive and authentic brand perception. This authenticity is conveyed, for example, through our global campaign ‘For whatever drives you’, which focuses on ŠKODA’s philosophy and brand values: to be innovative, surprising and humane and simplify life. At the same time, it celebrates the diversity of our customers and encourages them to follow their inner drive and personal motivation. We are delighted that we were able to win over the jury of the ‘Red Dot Award’ with our creative ideas, strategies and platforms.”
ŠKODA presents itself as a particularly diverse brand. The Czech car manufacturer will be celebrating its 125th anniversary next year. In May, the brand entered the era of electromobility by presenting the CITIGOᵉ iV and the SUPERB iV. In addition, ŠKODA is involved in various sponsorship activities. For example, the company has been supporting international sporting events, including the Tour de France and Ice Hockey World Championship as an official partner for many years. Also, ŠKODA can look back on 118 years of success in motorsport.
