2024: a year crammed full of exploration

Explorers on adventurous road trips, pinnacles of sporting achievement, eMobility enthusiasts and encounters with unexpected professions you might not expect to find in a car manufacturer. As it does every year, in 2024 Škoda Storyboard gave you the chance to meet lots of interesting people. Refresh your memory with us.

20. 12. 2024 Škoda World

In the past year, Škoda Storyboard introduced you to a number of people who aren’t afraid of exploring. A fleet of electric Škoda Enyaqs, for example, went on an adventurous journey across the dunes and deserts of Morocco. They drove all the way to the world’s most famous desert via a unique solar power plant.

Not all journeys of discovery have to be that challenging, though. Sometimes you just need to pack up your tent and head for the mountains or get into the car and drive. Photographer Gérard Trang, for example, took his family on a road trip around France in a Karoq and Enyaq Coupé

We stay in that country for the Tour de France. Once again, a fleet of Škoda models was there – for the twentieth time. This year, the legendary race started in the Italian city of Florence and finished in Nice. Needless to say, the familiar red Škodas could be seen at the front of the peloton, while enthusiastic fans left no doubt about their passion for the Tour.

Adventure and exploration have long since ceased to be the prerogative of travellers – you can experience them while watching a movie or sitting at a computer. No wonder, then, that the Škoda brand took its first steps into the world of legendary racing game Gran Turismo this year. The Czech carmaker’s first contribution to this world is the futuristic Škoda Vision Gran Turismo concept.

Škoda is dedicated to innovation and exploration not only on the road, but perhaps most of all in car development. This year, for example, the company opened a new Virtual Development Centre. This facility will significantly help to streamline the development of new cars. Innovations can be virtually tried out right from the idea stage.

Škoda Storyboard ran several series that gave you the chance to meet the people who write the Škoda story, whether inside the car factory or behind the wheel of its cars. Škoda Enyaq drivers shared their experiences of the model, offering hints and tips as well as colourful stories from their travels.

This year the Hidden Helpers series took a close look at lights, airbags, cruise control and modern assistance functions. The Moments from Car Production took you right into the factory, following a Škoda Kodiaq every step of the way down the production line.

Recycled bumpers, panelling parts made partly from recycled frying oil, carpets made from old mattresses... innovations that could soon be heading for series production in Škoda cars. But first they need to be tested, and that’s what the IVET Show Car concept is for, showcasing 20 ideas for recycled materials.

Innovations from last year include moving the automatic gear selector from the centre console to below the steering wheel. This change was put into practice in the new generations of the Superb and Kodiaq.

But the past is also worth exploring. Take a look back at original ideas from the Czech carmaker’s history or models once designed for specific markets and occasions. And see how the approach to aerodynamics has changed over the years
