2024: a year of new electric cars and innovated favourites
The Škoda Elroq opened the latest eMobility chapter in the autumn. A spacious interior, three battery sizes, a range of over 560 km and an affordable price. The new electric SUV also gets a new audio signature. The car’s exterior is also innovative, executed entirely in the new Modern Solid design language for the first time and featuring a lot of sustainable materials. Let the designers themselves tell you about it:
A design study for a coming electric car gives us a glimpse of the future. The urban crossover SUV will be called the Škoda Epiq, and its final design is due to be revealed in 2025.
The alluring and spacious Škoda Kodiaq is already in its second generation. Even more spacious and practical than its predecessor, the second generation also features elements of the brand-new design language.
The second generation of the Škoda Kodiaq SUV is also available in a sporty RS version. This comes with more power, lots of sporty details and state-of-the-art equipment.
The Czech carmaker’s best-selling model, the Škoda Octavia, was also in on the innovation action in 2024, with new developments focusing on new sustainable materials, even better functionality and also design. Take a look at the one-minute run-through of all the Octavia’s innovations:
The new Octavia also got a sporty RS variant in 2024. Its more powerful engine and modified chassis were tested on a circuit by racing driver Oliver Solberg. What were his impressions of driving the popular RS model?
And speaking of RS models, we must not forget about a genuine racing car concept. This was the work of the Škoda Motorsport team, who modified the Enyaq Coupé RS to its own racing specifications. But as well as modifications to make the Enyaq RS Race a competitive rally car, the team paid attention to sustainability, with several of its parts made from biocomposite materials.
With the fourth generation of the Škoda Superb hitting the roads in 2024, it was only right to take a look at the principal innovations and changes that this land barge now has to offer.
The summer brought a new generation of the Sportline version to the Superb family, which retains all the strengths of the standard model, notably its spaciousness and Simply Clever features, but adds a generous helping of unique design elements and other equipment.
Other models have also been upgraded, including the popular Kamiq urban SUV. It’s still a versatile crossover for a wide range of customers, but now it’s been given a slightly more confident look and a more plentiful technology package.
The updated Škoda Scala is the ideal car for a single person, a couple or a young family. The classic compact hatchback has been given a facelift and several design changes that have added an extra dash of dynamism to its looks.
The Indian market didn’t stay in the shadows in 2024 either. After the Kushaq and Slavia, Škoda launched a compact SUV that caters specifically to the needs of Indian customers. Called the Kylaq, it targets Indian customers in the popular sub-four-metre segment.
